Our accelerated, online program can be completed in as few as 12 months for Secondary 91福利社or 18 months for Special Education. It's perfect if you have a bachelor’s degree in another field and are considering a long-term career change. If you are already teaching on an emergency license, you can continue serving in your own classroom while completing your field experiences.
You'll receive personalized academic support from start to finish and are automatically invited to the School of Education's annual Interview Day. This signature event is held at the IMU on the Bloomington campus and offers a unique opportunity for students to learn more about hundreds of school districts from around the country and gain interview experience.
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area that the individual intends to teach with a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale; OR
Graduate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area or related field in which the person wants to teach; OR
Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area that the individual intends to teach with a grade point average of at least 2.50 on a 4.0 point scale, and five (5) years of professional experience related to the subject area of the degree (for content area teachers); OR
Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution, and proof of passing state approved content area examination(s) in the subject area.
NOTE: Applicants who are admitted to the program under the requirements listed in points 1-3 must have a passing score on the state of Indiana Content Area licensing exam on their IU record prior to beginning the student teaching placement (spring semester of the program).

The Graduate Studies Office will accept unofficial transcripts and self-reported test scores for admission reviews. Any admission made with these documents would be conditioned on receipt of official documents, which should be provided as soon as possible.

The Transition to Teaching (T2T) Secondary 91福利社program prepares you for a single Indiana teaching license that covers both junior high/middle school and high school. Your license will include a specified content field depending on your program of study and any license additions you pursue.

Special 91福利社Program:
The Transition to Teaching (T2T) Special 91福利社program leads to an initial practitioner’s license in Indiana in Exceptional Needs: Mild Intervention (Preschool – Grade 12). Teacher candidates must complete the required 24-credit hours of coursework (including field experiences and student teaching), earn CPR/AED/Heimlich certification, complete Suicide Prevention Training, and pass the applicable Praxis licensing exams:

Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades PreK–12 (5625)
Rikki Tobolski takes on new path as special education teacher through Transition to Teaching program
After working as a restaurant manager for 20 years, Rikki Tobolski and her husband moved to Indiana to be closer to family. A change in where she lived meant a change in career—which led Tobolski to the Transition to Teaching program at the IU School of Education.
