July 19-26, 2026
We are excited to announce a new opportunity for EfEC teachers—an innovative environmental education initiative in the Galapagos Islands!
We have been working with scientists and educators from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador) to develop a collaborative environmental education project with the Tomas de Berlanga School on Santa Cruz Island, Galapagos. Tomas de Berlanga is a multi-grade bilingual (Spanish/English) private school with a strong emphasis on experiential education.
Through the generous support of one of our funders, we are able to invite a small group of 8-10 EfEC teachers to join us for a week of collaborative teaching with fellow teachers from Tomas de Berlanga. We are looking for a diverse, creative group of teachers who are interested in taking on a challenging new teaching experience and willing to commit to follow-up activities involving your students working with those from a partner classroom in Galapagos.
The trip will take place during the week of July 19-26, 2026. Our grant will cover most in-country costs, including housing, (some) meals, all ground and sea transport within the Galapagos, one night’s stay in Quito, and two days of excursions. Participating teachers are expected to provide costs for air travel to/from Quito and costs for a few meals during the week (estimated at $1500). Although Spanish language skills would be beneficial, it is not required for participation in the program.
Interested? Please fill out our online application form by March 1, 2026.
